Half Ass Flat Ride

The 2023 Half Ass Flat Ride is June 23-25!
Half Ass Flat Ride Logo

The Half Ass Flat Ride (HAFR) is one of the Unit’s main events and our major fundraiser. We have received many compliments on this ride in Capetown, CA. on the last full weekend in June. The HAFR is a catered three day event. We lead rides along the beach, up hills to get great views of the Pacific Ocean from atop the grassy bluffs, or through the North Coast's beautiful scenery. We have a big raffle, enjoy a tasty dinner of Tri-Tip and local oysters, and dance to a Country Western Band on Saturday night. The 2023 HAFR (June 23-25) will be the 30th year anniversary of the event.

Participants arrive with their equines on Friday to set up camp and receive a hot home cooked meal. Friday night usually ends with a small bonfire, accompanied by accoustic music and poetry from members. Saturday starts with a hot breakfast, afterwards three rides (short, medium, and long) leave camp to ride through the beautiful lands of our property hosts. All rides meet at a designated spot for lunch camp, and afterwards head back to the main camp via short, medium or long rides. On Saturday night, juicy NY strip and savory oysters are served for dinner, the raffle kicks off, and a live band plays into the night with dancing and a bonfire. Sunday morning breakfast is served, afterwards an optional short ride heads out. Lunch is served upon return of the riders. A great weekend for equestrian adventurers.

This ride takes place annually on the last full weekend in June and is limited to the first 150 riders. Find out how to reserve your chance to ride with us by contacting Carole and Darrel Polasek by e-mail or via phone, (707) 786-9637.
