Cowboy Canned Food Convoy

The Redwood Unit's holiday food drive is a unique and exciting experience!

On a Saturday in November, the Redwood Unit kicks off the Food for People's (the Food Bank for Humboldt County) Annual Holiday Spirit Food and Fund Drive and Hunger Fighter Challenge in true Cowboy fashion. The Redwood Unit delivers 100s of lbs. of non-perishable food donations via horseback and pack animal to Food for People.

Food is collected and gathered at Quality Body Works at 949 W. Del Norte Street in Eureka. Once loaded up with the goods, the Convoy crosses Broadway and makes it's way to Food for People’s facility located at 307 W. 14 th Street. We are greeted by many of Food for People's staff, who usually bring apples for our horses to munch on!

Food for People works with a network of 18 food pantries countywide, and all the food that is collected within a community will STAY within that community to help feed local residents in need.

The press is invited to cover this event. Click here to see the Press Release and here to see the flyer. For more info, please contact Jacquelyn Murphy via e-mail or phone, (707) 498-6648.
